HERE IS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
My name is Charla Anne. I am a follower of Jesus, a widow, and mom to five amazing humans.
Ever since I was a little girl I had one dream and that was to be a wife and momma. God gave me the desire of my heart the day He brought Galin into my life. We fell madly in love and got married right after I graduated from high school. The day I became his wife was one of the happiest days of my life.
In 2018, Galin was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Less than a year later, on June 4, 2019, he died suddenly after having a severe reaction to his cancer treatment. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to the man who made all my dreams come true. That day, something inside me died and I am still trying to figure out how to live again. Although I don’t understand why God allowed this to happen, I am choosing to trust Him. God gave us (almost) 26 years together. They were the happiest years of my life. I am so grateful for the love we shared and the family I have as a result of that love.
Matt is my oldest child. I was 19 when he was born and sometimes I think we grew up together. He is married to Jerusha and they recently had a baby.
His name is Jack Galin. He is such a gift that God dropped in my lap at one of the lowest points of my life.
Brittany is my oldest daughter. She is married to Clint and they will celebrate their first anniversary this month.
Kayla is my patient, gentle, and helpful 21 year old. She is going to school to become a teacher. She still lives at home and helps me in a million different ways.
Lily is my 12 year old. I longed and prayed for another child for many years and God answered my prayer by bringing her into our family in 2009. I can’t thank Him enough for my little girl all the way from South Korea!
She is always thinking of ways she can be a blessing to others. She loves to cook and is becoming quite the little chef. She is one of the artsiest people I know. She can’t wait to have a dog of her own. Her dream is to become a veterinarian.
Jaxson is my 7 year old. He became our foster child a few months before we found out Galin had cancer. We fell so in love with his big smile and quirky ways. We adopted him 12 weeks before Galin died.
His deep laugh is one of the best things I’ve ever heard. He loves to draw pictures and is learning to read like a pro. He talks non stop and asks about a million questions every day. He told me his dream is to make the world better by spreading the message about Jesus.
Right now I am just taking it one day at a time and trying to find goodness sprinkled throughout each day. I remind my children often that God has given us more blessings than we can count. On our hardest days, we take turns naming them out loud.
The fact that I can have a relationship with the Creator of the universe takes my breath away. He is the One who holds me up when I feel like I can’t go on. He gives me peace that passes understanding. He promised He would never leave me and that is how I know I will be okay.
Thank you for being here and following along on our journey. If you have time I would love to hear from you. I answer all questions in the comment section of my blog, so be sure to check back if you ask anything.
Much love,
Charla
